In the case of a more holistic dog food that you will usually find that the food has more protein named sources within the first five ingredients. Dogs usually fails to proteins such holistic dog food should have a higher percentage of protein than the minimum AAFCO. Even elderly dogs can eat more protein than the level they once believed, unless you have kidney problems.
When you choose a good holistic dog food you will also want to stay away from foods that have heavy concentrations of corn gluten. Corn gluten is a typical product of a filler in many dog foods. It is a protein, but dogs can not handle it very well, and most of it passes through your dog and is stored as waste. The same is true of wheat gluten. Rice protein concentrate and soy protein are also undesirable. There is a problem, because these grains are so widely used in many dog foods that many dogs are allergic to one or more of them now.
good holistic dog food also does not have preservatives in it, such as BHA, BTA, or ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is used to make rubber and is believed to cause health problems in dogs. Ethoxyquin is a hot issue with many people, because it is commonly used to preserve fish meal. It is commonly added to fish meal before it reaches the manufacturer of dog food and dog food company need not turn it on food labels. However, it is still in the food, even in small quantities. USDA asked the dog food manufacturers voluntarily reduce the amount of ethoxyquin used in dog food. Some of the best dog food companies are now trying to source of fish meal that has not been preserved with ethoxyquin, although you may need to check the company website, or even inquire about the company to find out if they do not have ethoxyquin in fish meal. Some companies will not voluntarily disclose that information. Kudos to those companies that do not release the information and who are committed to the use of fish meal without ethoxyquin. Dog food is confirmed that the ethoxyquin-free include Orijen, Fromm, Flint River and TLC Whole Life Dog Food.
Instead of the artificial preservatives and should look for vitamin C and vitamin E as a preservative, mixed tocopherols, citric acid, or the herb rosemary.

holistic foods also provide a whole meat or flour, such as whole chicken or chicken meal, instead of meat byproducts, or digest. The term "byproducts" and "digest" have special meaning in agriculture and industry to allow the manufacturer to include parts of animals that probably will not be comfortable feeding your dog. They may technically meet the protein and nutritional needs, but they are kind of a healthy diet that you are looking for in a holistic food.

a novel protein source, since they are so popular many peoplelike to to buy exotic proteins for their dogs because some super premium dog food they offer -.. sources of protein such as meat or kangaroo, emu there really is no need to buy these expensive sources of protein for your dog, if you do not need them. If your dog is allergic to more common sources of protein you should consider yourself lucky, and try to feed them. If you feed an exotic protein to your dog when it is not necessary if your dog does not ever develop allergies to some sources of protein, you'll be much more limited as to your options when you need them.

Ever since they burst onto the scene in 1990 Designer dogs were in the limelight, and they've been much in demand. Any search on the Internet will lead to thousands of designer dog web site. They offer Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Schnoodles, Puggles, and just about anything else you can imagine. These designer dogs, or "hybrid mix, " as they call it, is also much in the news, sometimes with unpleasant stories. Are they a good choice for potential dog owners?
the original is probably a hybrid mix Cockapoo. Cocker Spaniels are the most popular breeds in America for 17 years during 1940-50 BC. Some growers are crossed with the Poodle varieties produce a very popular pet. Cockapoos are still grown today. They are generally healthy dogs, but they may be inherited progressive retinal atrophy of their parents' poodle. Reputable Cockapoo breeders should be able to provide you with proof that Cerf (eyes), parents of litters tested. Cockapoos are somewhere in the process of trying to become a true breed. If you get a Cockapoo he could be from the Cocker Spaniel x Poodle cross, or he could be the x Cockapoo Cockapoo Cross. Both breedings produce Cockapoos.
In 1980 Labradoodle was developed in Australia as a potential guide dogs for the blind. Labradoodles are a cross between a Labrador retrievers, and one of three varieties of Poodle (miniature, toy or Standard). It was hoped that the cross will produce dogs with the intelligence of a poodle and a great trainability, gentleness and willingness to pray for Labrador. Dogs often are today, because in some cases, there are puppies in a litter that are very low shedding and good for allergy-sufferers who want to own a dog. However, the litters are not equal. Labradoodle puppies in the litter can have one of three types of fur or hair: rough / soft, straight hair like the hair curly like his parents' poodle. Generally, however, Labradoodles will shed as much as their parents Labrador. Labradors are considered one of the worst of all dogs when it comes to shedding. Labradoodles can be inherited health problems with both Labradors and poodles. Both breeds can have problems with hip dysplasia and Labradoodles may inherit a predisposition for the disease, too. Poodles can pass on genes for progressive retinal atrophy. When talking with a Labradoodle breeder should ask them if they had parents of her puppies x-rayed for hip dysplasia, and if a parent is a poodle Cerf clearance.
Goldendoodle has been developed for many of the same reasons as the Labradoodle. They are a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle varieties. Labradoodle as they come in different sizes depending on which of the poodle varieties used in the cross. They are also favored by allergy sufferers, but, as with the Labradoodle, they are not as low shedding dogs. They do not shed less than a golden retriever, but the coat type may vary in Goldendoodle litters. Their coats can be curly, wavy or straight. As with the Labradoodle, you should ask Goldendoodle breeders if they x-rayed the hips of the parents as they lay golden retrievers and poodles can be prone to hip dysplasia. You should also inquire about the status of the parents Cerf.
Other popular designer dogs include the Puggle and Schnoodle. Schnoodle is a cross between a schnauzer and a poodle. These dogs can be almost any size, depending on which Schnauzer, which were used Poodle - Miniature Schnauzer, Standard Schnauzer, Giant Schnauzer, Miniature Poodle, Toy Poodle, Standard Poodle. As you can see, there are several possible combinations. Schnoodles can have a strong fur Schnauzer, curly hair on the poodle, or a combination of the two. Puggles are a cross between a Pug and Beagle. This breed is short, but it's not good for anyone who is squeamish about dog hair in the house. Pugs and Beagles are both heavy shedding breed and so the Puggle. Both Puggle and Schnoodle can suffer from diseases common to their purebred parents.
If you get a designer dog? Many designer dogs are very cute. Growers are experimenting with different crosses to see what it produces. True, many of our purebred breeds began crossing pre-existing breeds. However, these old crosses were usually done because it was a specific need for a dog - the dog was required to kill rats in the barn or in a flock of sheep, a cross was added to try to improve performance. Designer dogs are being created to try to produce coats that shed less and produce cute dogs. For many breeders breeding these dogs commercially there is not much concern for the health of dogs that have been produced. There is also concern about (or envy) among purebred dog breeders, as prices for designer dogs are higher than the price of puppies from show champions. Is the gullible public to pay those prices? Maybe. But we all know that when something is popular people can command whatever price they can get.
People who work with animal shelters like to point out that you can get any dog you want to cross just by visiting your local shelter and it will not cost you a lot.
If you want a designer dog is no reason why you should not get one. However, you should go into it with eyes open. Designer dogs are not breeds. They do not breed true. If you breed two Labradoodles together you get a dog that looks like the ones grown. You May get a dog that resembles a poodle or labrador, or some mix. Designer dogs do not enjoy the "hybrid force." They are prone to the same health problems that existed in the purebred parents.
With all that said, the designer dogs are generally intelligent, gentle and eager to please, especially dogs with poodle parents. Some of them May be possible dogs for allergy-sufferers. They can make very good pets if you do your homework and carefully interview the dog breeders before buying.
